Like creating end user s/w like appl progs,s/m progs also OS......, in that order
How would you rank india in software development or engg?
all scales from 1 (low) - 10 (high)
India:
end-user s/w : 3
s/m progs: 4
OS: 1.5
USA:
end-user: 5.5
s/m progs: 5
OS: 3 (thanks Microsoft! you killed the score hehe)
can't comment on other countries
no offense...but everything i've seen is substandard...there are some VERY good programmers i know from India...but not many. I also know some very crappy ones from the US. this question is really too broad in scope for accurancy (not to mention that you'll likely get more (inexperienced) opinions than relevant info.
Reply:In real India is developing like anything.
but in my views
we are in caves where some others in Mannat (The Luxurious place of Gouri, Sharukh's wife)
Reply:India generates maximum revenue from software exports. therefore u might have heard that India needs skilled IT manpower for the next 20 yrs and so on.
this is because we are getting a lot of outsourcing jobs from the IT enabled services sector like banking and bpo.
also India has already made a mark in terms of software development with China being a serious competitor. in this competition India is still ahead since we Indians are able to communicate in English very comfortably.
also every year in the budget the government takes special care of the software exports sector and comes out with some good benefits for them.
so from the above information u can analyse on ur own where we stand in terms of software development.
Reply:I've worked with many Indian programmers over the last ten years and none of them were worth a damn for software development. They were competent enough with technical programming, but had no clue how to design an application. Their applications are not user-friendly and the code is very poorly designed from a maintenance standpoint, making it very difficult to make changes or improvements to the application. I don't think they are taught design in their Indian computer schools, just how to write in the computer languages. But that's my meal ticket, as I am a consultant that makes his living cleaning up the messes made by Indian programmers.
Reply:ofcourse india is no.1 in making larger amount of softwares.
Reply:No 1.
The growth of IT sector of India is very high.
and we mostly produce s/w not h/w.
Reply:I am not sure why you would want to know this. I have had many programmers from India work for me over the last 5 years. Out of that, I can say only 4 of them were high quality. They supply lots of bodies but they are generally not good at getting the job done.
Reply:software development in india is like the equivalent of a clothing sweatshop for cheap labor.
lots of tech companies send projects there because it's so much cheaper than paying an engineer here. I wouldn't know how to start on ranking them, but I guess they get the job done.
