Software development project manager job hunting?

Are there any recruiters, linkedin members or anyone in the know here who knows of any software project manager / development manager / CTO or similar level positions available in the UK on a permanent or contract basis? My contact details and professional profile are off my blog http://www.siliconglen.com/news/

I've tried the usual sites, but often the jobs go to "insiders" which after a few months can get quite frustrating.

I've been interviewed 3 times by Google.com and Amazon.com so I must have some interesting skills....

Software development project manager job hunting?
I'm a recruiter and I've done quite a bit of IT work. You are correct. A lot of jobs go to internal candidates. A lot of other jobs go to external candidates like yourself, but it just happens that there was a more qualified external candidate than you. There are millions of jobs and millions of people looking for jobs, and the employment market is the single least efficient market in the known universe. That fact creates immeasurable frustration on both sides of the equation and, since any hiring manager and any candidate only see a small slice of the whole, it always starts to feel like it is personal. But it isn't.

Keep doing what you're doing, do as much networking as possible, and rest assured that if you have the skills and can present yourself half decently, you will, eventually, get a position.

When you do get those nibbles, please be EVER so cautious NOT to let the person you are talking to see you sweat. Always go in confidence (not cocky, but confident). The minute you say the first thing about how long and hard you've been looking, you start planting seeds of doubt. People start asking themselves "gee, what is wrong with him that the other people haven't hired him?" even though that is totally ludicrous, because it is all a huge numbers game.

Good luck. Chin up.
