What is difference between software developer and software engineering courses at colleges?

Trying to decide on an online school, one offers bs in software development, the other as in software engineering. Is there a major difference in finding jobs with a engineering title or a development title? What school offers the best.

What is difference between software developer and software engineering courses at colleges?
It often depends on how each educational institution wants to define it. Both are closely related, but I would say that a software developer is more interested in the code aspect of things, so you'll maybe have more focus on specific languages and creating software in it. Software engineering implies a bit more broad-level focus. That means you might need to think about some of the project management parts including:

1. How do I turn business requirements from users into technical requirements for developers?

2. What choices do I need to make as far as the database, language, other systems the software needs to interact with.

3. What style of programming will work best for this project.

But again, it really depends on how each institution defines it. Can you call or email someone there to find out a list of courses they offer?

I think "engineer" has a better rep than "developer." But, it comes down to whether or not you know what you're doing and that'll be what any qualified interviewer will ask you during your job interview.
